Altogen Labs Protein Overexpression Cell Line Development Supports Antibody and Drug Screening Programs

AUSTIN, Texas – January 25, 2015 – Altogen Labs today detailed its protein overexpression stable cell line development service, delivering mammalian lines that stably express a target protein of interest in 28 days.

Overexpression lines are foundational infrastructure for several categories of program. Recombinant antibody production requires cells presenting the antigen. Drug screening against a specific receptor requires a line expressing that receptor at consistent levels. Gene function studies require a controlled gain-of-function comparison against the parental line. In each case the quality of the engineered line determines the quality of everything downstream.

Altogen Labs generates lines stably overexpressing a protein of interest, alongside stable RNAi knockdown lines and tetracycline-inducible knockdown systems, in the cell background the sponsor specifies. The 28-day timeline is one of the faster available from an independent CRO, and reflects the company’s cell culture expertise across more than 100 cell lines.

Validation is performed in-house: mRNA expression confirmed by qRT-PCR and protein expression confirmed by automated capillary Western with normalization to total protein. Completed lines are cryopreserved and can be banked as GLP-compliant master and working cell banks for the life of the program.

Engineered lines can move directly into the company’s validated in vivo models, allowing a target’s role in tumor growth to be tested in an animal using the same material characterized in culture. One hundred percent of intellectual property belongs to the client.
