Altogen Labs ELISA and Cell-Based Assay Development Provides Custom Readouts for Preclinical Programs

AUSTIN, Texas – May 27, 2015 – Altogen Labs today detailed its ELISA and cell-based assay development services, building custom analytical readouts for programs whose endpoints are not served by off-the-shelf kits.

Novel mechanisms frequently require novel assays. A first-in-class compound acting through an uncharacterized pathway has no commercial kit measuring its effect, and forcing the program into a generic viability readout discards the mechanistic information that makes the compound interesting.

Altogen Labs develops custom ELISA assays and cell-based assays covering cell cycle distribution, viability, apoptosis, and ATP endpoints, designed around the biology a sponsor needs to measure. Assay development includes optimization, validation, and transfer into study use, whether for in vitro screening or for analysis of tissue harvested from in vivo work.

The capability supports the full range of company programs — cytokine quantification in inflammation and immuno-oncology studies, biomarker measurement in efficacy studies, target engagement confirmation in RNAi and oligonucleotide programs, and safety endpoint measurement in toxicology work.

Related analytical services include gene expression analysis by RT-PCR, protein quantification by automated capillary Western, immunohistochemistry on frozen tissue, formalin-fixed samples, paraffin-embedded blocks, or unstained slides, and IC50 determination across more than 100 tumor cell lines. All work is performed at the company’s GLP-compliant Austin, Texas facility, with technical support and QA/QC teams ensuring data quality.
