AUSTIN, Texas – April 12, 2012 – Altogen Labs today detailed its microfluidics-based liposome encapsulation services, supporting sponsors developing nucleic acid therapeutics, protein therapeutics, and formulation-dependent small molecules.
Encapsulation is where many nucleic acid programs are won or lost. Unprotected siRNA and microRNA are degraded by circulating RNases within seconds of administration. Without a delivery system that protects the cargo, achieves adequate tissue distribution, and releases functionally intact material, even a perfectly designed oligonucleotide will show no effect in vivo — a result easily and expensively misread as target failure.
Altogen Labs performs encapsulation of siRNA, microRNA, mRNA, plasmid DNA, proteins, and small molecule compounds, using microfluidizer technology to achieve consistent particle characteristics. The company offers complete A-to-Z RNAi services: oligonucleotide design, chemical modification to resist nuclease degradation, in vitro validation, encapsulation, in vivo tissue-targeted delivery, and confirmation of target engagement.
