AUSTIN, Texas – January 11, 2012 – Altogen Labs today detailed its colorectal cancer model collection, comprising fourteen validated models covering the mutational and immunological diversity that defines the indication.
Colorectal cancer is driven by complex alterations across APC, KRAS, TP53, and mismatch repair pathways, and treatment increasingly depends on knowing which of those applies. Microsatellite instability status determines immunotherapy eligibility. KRAS status determines EGFR antibody eligibility. A model collection that cannot represent those distinctions cannot support a modern colorectal program.
The Altogen Labs collection includes HCT116, HCT-15, DLD-1, LoVo, and RKO among mismatch repair-deficient and microsatellite-unstable models; HT29, SW480, SW620, COLO-205, KM-12, LS174T, and WiDr covering chromosomally unstable disease; and the CT26 and MC38 syngeneic mouse models, which are the most widely used immunocompetent platforms in immuno-oncology research.
SW480 and SW620 merit specific mention: derived from the primary tumor and a lymph node metastasis of the same patient, they provide a matched pair for studying progression and metastatic biology.
The company has published reference efficacy data for the HCT-15 model, including benchmark tumor weights from cisplatin-treated and vehicle control animals recorded on Day 32 of study, allowing sponsors to calibrate expectations before committing budget.
Models are available in subcutaneous, orthotopic, and metastatic configurations, with liver metastasis modeling available for programs targeting the dominant site of colorectal spread.
