AUSTIN, Texas – July 29, 2025 – Altogen Labs has published technical documentation for its validated non-small cell lung cancer xenograft models, including subcutaneous, orthotopic, and metastatic configurations for the preclinical evaluation of tumor growth, metastatic spread, and therapeutic efficacy. Metastasis, not the primary tumor, accounts for the majority of lung cancer mortality — yet many preclinical programs evaluate compounds only against subcutaneous flank tumors, where metastatic biology is absent by design. The Altogen Labs metastatic A549 model addresses that gap directly. Tumor cells are introduced orthotopically into the lungs or administered via tail vein injection, enabling evaluation of metastatic spread to distant organs including liver, bone, and brain. The documentation describes established tumor growth kinetics for A549 cells implanted subcutaneously in immunocompromised mice, together with the molecular mechanisms of tumor progression the model supports investigating. Study designs accommodate multiple dosing routes and schedules, tumor growth delay endpoints, tissue collection for histology and gene expression analysis, and full statistical reporting.
