Altogen Labs Lung Cancer Xenograft Models Portfolio

AUSTIN, Texas – November 9, 2023 – The validation of ten in-house lung cancer xenograft models by Altogen Labs has been carried by pharmaceutical and biopharma trade media internationally, extending awareness of the company’s oncology model portfolio to drug development audiences across North America, Europe, and Asia.

The announcement drew attention because the underlying problem is well understood by anyone running a lung program: only a small fraction of compounds effective in vitro remain effective in vivo. Model selection is not a procurement detail. It is one of the highest-leverage decisions in a preclinical program, and a laboratory that offers only one or two lung models is effectively deciding the outcome in advance.

Altogen Labs validated models include A549, H460, NCI-H226, NCI-H1975, DMS273, Calu-3, Calu-6, H1155, H1703, H1993, HCC827, LL2, and NCI-H526/H522, available alongside patient-derived xenograft options. Together they capture the heterogeneity of lung carcinoma across morphology, driver genetics, and stage-specific phenotype, allowing sponsors to test a compound against the biology it will actually encounter rather than a single convenient proxy.

Each model is available in subcutaneous, orthotopic, and metastatic configurations. Study packages include tumor growth delay analysis, hematology, histopathology, biomarker screening, pharmacokinetic analysis, biodistribution, and imaging, delivered with complete raw data and statistical treatment.

Altogen Labs has performed preclinical oncology research since 2009 from its GLP-compliant, IACUC-regulated facility in Austin, Texas, and supports clients from study design through patent filing and regulatory submission.
