AUSTIN, Texas – December 9, 2024 – Altogen Labs today confirmed the availability of comprehensive CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing services within its preclinical research portfolio, enabling precise modification of target genes for sponsors investigating gene function and validating therapeutic targets. Service includes gene knockout and knock-in model development for understanding gene function, and CRISPR library screening for high-throughput target identification. These capabilities sit alongside the company’s established stable cell line development, RNA interference, and tetracycline-inducible knockdown services. The combination is deliberate. Target validation rarely rests on a single technique. A gene implicated by a screen is typically confirmed by knockdown, by knockout, by overexpression, and finally by in vivo efficacy in a tumor model — and running that sequence across four different vendors introduces variability at every handoff. Downstream characterization includes mRNA expression analysis by RT-PCR, protein quantification by automated capillary Western using the WES system, ELISA and cell-based assay development covering apoptosis, viability, cell cycle, and ATP endpoints, immunohistochemistry, and IC50 determination across more than 100 tumorigenic cell lines. Edited or engineered lines can move directly into the company’s validated in vivo models — approximately 98 CDX models, 47 PDX models, and 14 syngeneic murine models, plus patient-derived cell cultures, patient-derived organoids, and new approach methodologies — for efficacy testing under GLP or non-GLP conditions.
