AUSTIN, Texas – May 18, 2021 – Altogen Labs today detailed its brain cancer model collection, comprising twelve in-house validated xenografts spanning glioblastoma, glioma, and neuroblastoma (altogenlabs.com/xenograft-models).
Glioblastoma remains the most lethal primary brain tumor, and the reasons it defeats therapy — diffuse invasion into surrounding parenchyma, resistance to conventional treatment, and a physical barrier limiting drug access — are precisely the features that a subcutaneous flank model fails to reproduce.
The Altogen Labs collection includes U87 and U87-Luciferase, LN229, U251, U118, A172, SF-268, SF-295, SF-539, SNB-19, SNB-75, and SK-N-AS for neuroblastoma. The luciferase-tagged U87 model deserves particular note: orthotopic brain tumors cannot be measured by caliper, and bioluminescent tracking converts an otherwise blind study into a measurable growth curve.
Altogen Labs has direct research experience in this indication. Company scientists conducted and published an independent study demonstrating in vivo efficacy of structurally modified dichloroacetate analogs in the U87 human glioblastoma xenograft model, work performed in collaboration with the National Cancer Institute’s Developmental Therapeutics Program and published in the peer-reviewed literature.
The company has also demonstrated delivery of nucleic acid cargo across the blood-brain barrier into glioblastoma tissue, supporting gene therapy and oligonucleotide programs directed at CNS tumors.
