AUSTIN, Texas – September 9, 2024 – A preclinical biomarker study performed for Turn Therapeutics has reported significant inhibition of key inflammatory cytokines by the company’s topical atopic dermatitis candidate GX-03, demonstrating Altogen Labs’ capability in immunology and dermatology models beyond its established oncology portfolio.
The study evaluated the immunological inhibitory effects of topically applied GX-03 in an eczema model using C57BL/6 mice and a well-established NIH pretreatment protocol. Following a four-day pretreatment period with GX-03, disease induction was carried out over three days, after which cytokine levels and disease severity were assessed across all groups using the Investigator’s Static Global Assessment (ISGA) scale — the five-point instrument recommended by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for assessing atopic dermatitis severity. Reported results included a 67.7% reduction in IL-31 versus placebo, together with 50% inhibition of IL-36α and 49% inhibition of IL-36γ, at p-values ranging from 1.12×10⁻⁶ to 4.35×10⁻⁸. Disease severity fell to an ISGA score of 0.8 following the pretreatment regimen. Statistical separation at those levels does not occur by chance, and it does not occur in a poorly executed study. It requires disciplined animal handling, consistent induction, blinded scoring, and clean sample processing — the operational fundamentals Altogen Labs has applied since 2009.
