AUSTIN, Texas – August 22, 2022 – Altogen Labs today detailed its in vivo toxicology service in mouse and rat, covering LD50 determination and acute, sub-chronic, and chronic safety assessment for investigational compounds.
Toxicology defines the therapeutic window, and the therapeutic window defines whether a program is viable. A compound with excellent efficacy at a dose close to its maximum tolerated dose has a different future than one effective at a fraction of it — and that comparison can only be made when efficacy and safety data come from the same species, the same strain, and comparable study conduct.
Altogen Labs runs both. The same facility that generates a sponsor’s tumor growth delay data generates its toxicology data, eliminating the cross-laboratory variability that complicates exposure-margin calculations.
Services include LD50 determination, acute studies assessing short-term impact, sub-chronic and chronic studies assessing toxicity over months to a year, evaluation of effects on major organ systems, hematology, clinical chemistry, histopathology, and comprehensive statistical and quantitative analysis of toxic effects. OECD-guideline protocols are available across oral, dermal, and inhalation routes, together with toxicokinetics, chronic toxicity, and carcinogenicity studies.
Computational toxicology, including PBPK modeling and AI-driven toxicity prediction, supports dose range selection and reduces the number of animals required to reach a defensible conclusion.
Both GLP and non-GLP formats are available, allowing exploratory dose-ranging work to be run economically ahead of pivotal GLP studies.
